Hello ladies & germs,
First things first: to celebrate summer, we would like to invite you — as a loyal newsletteritorian — to a free Tuning Session on the beach near Wassenaar: a deep-listening experience with an eye mask and headphones.
Date: Wednesday 5 August – 7:30–9:00 PM
Reserve: Message Claudia from Zences Yoga on +31 6 52 31 24 57
Location: Zences Yoga by Simpel aan Zee, Wassenaarse Slag 37, Wassenaar
With a small group of people, we will listen to new music and give some context around the songs and their content, in the intimate setting of a beach hut.
We are doing this on the calm beach of De Wassenaarse Slag, just north of The Hague and surrounded by the beautiful dunes of the Meijendel nature reserve.
Places are very limited — first come, first served!
Huda and I are offering this session for free as a Celebration of Summer.
If you enjoy the experience and would like to give something back, you can make a donation to Claudia from Zences Yoga for facilitating the evening and running her lovely establishment.

VISITING GIEL BEELEN
Two weeks ago, our podcast with Dutch dj Giel Beelen went online.
Among other things, Huda spoke about how events in her childhood left her with an overactive and continuously alert nervous system in her adult life.
How, when we moved in together, a sense of calm entered her life for the first time — while her nervous system simply continued running in overdrive.
In her own words: “I started having panic attacks, which are basically bombs made of unprocessed emotions you have never allowed yourself to feel.”
In the podcast, I talk about my journey from hip-hop producer to audiovisual artist and make unnecessary jokes about train conductors.
Meanwhile, we follow Giel, who — exactly as the Good Lord created him in all his perfection — fans out in every possible direction during his podcast.
Giel was an incredibly pleasant host and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the short preview of our Tuning Session that we performed live.
You can also listen back to this mini-session, featuring the premiere of new music. Start at 25:49!

THRESHOLD
I think Huda and I both crossed a threshold by doing this podcast.
Huda by talking about her childhood and panic attacks.
Me by finally doing a long-form podcast.
I had been putting that off for quite some time, whether consciously or not.
I have a tendency to lock myself away — in a bubble of great bliss — in the studio and atelier, accompanied by a jerrycan of Greek yoghurt and a shipping container full of blueberries.
But we have now entered a new phase. We want to share what we have built over the past few years with the world.
For a while, my subconscious had been secretly hypnotising me with “resistance” towards long-form podcasts.
Because our work contains so many aspects of music, binaural beats, art and science, I told myself that we first had to PERFECTLY distil what we did and did not want to talk about, then formulate it PERFECTLY, translate it PERFECTLY and diligently prepare it all to PERFECTLY fit together.
An effective procrastination-system.
These days, however, I try to place this perfectionist voice in a bright spotlight whenever possible, so it cannot quietly gain too much ground.
A kind of de-debilisation process.
I see it a little like an ant in the kitchen.
If there is one walking around somewhere, it is not a problem.
But I am on alert now.
I will not leave an open jar of jam lying around that day, because ant number one — pati-ant zero — will summon all his cousins, in-laws and Rummikub buddies, and before you know it, an ant highway is running through your kitchen.
Below is an image of such an ant highway.
The ants on the outside form a kind of guardrail, while the ants in the middle race through the centre.
From here on forward, Huda and I will be flying our flag more visibly in the public arena. Do you have any recommendations for interesting podcasts? Dutch or English, it does not matter — let us know.
‘DELIC’ BECOMES
‘PETER BLOOM’
A NEW PHASE
“A snake does not shed its skin because it is worthless, but because it has outgrown it.”
— a biologist
“I am leaving the name Delic behind because this jacket has become too tight.”
— a self-proclaimed Renaissance man with a past in boom-bap beats
With the name Delic, I am closing an important chapter.
That name belongs to my history as a producer, artist and member of Opgezwolle, but it has become too narrow for the different art forms I now work in and for what Huda and I create together.
Peter Bloom is closer to who I am today. At the same time, the name marks the next step in our development as a duo.
Together, we will continue as Bloom & Huda.
From now on, we will develop and present our art, music and immersive projects through Studio Bloom & Huda.
And with that comes a new online home: www.bloomandhuda.com
That’s all for now. Much bless.
